I installed from the Windows folder when I was still using Windows and I was expecting to install from the Linux folder now. I still have the DVD writer and in it, there are three folders named Windows, Linux and MacOS. The package came with a DVD writer (a small disc) from which I got to install it on Windows, and the USB adapter which must be plugged in whenever I want to connect after installing the driver. I bought this external Wi-Fi adapter as soon as I got the laptop, with Windows being the default OS. There's been a problem with the internal Wi-Fi adapter since I got the laptop, that's why I've always had to use an external one. This is a more extensive background to the problem sleeper12. I'm so glad there are people willing to help! Thanks a bunch Pierre and sleeper12! I do as you've asked regarding this post Pierre, but in the link you posted, there's no RTL8188cu on the page.
